Main Engine Immobilization Request

Ships intending to immobilize their main engine while in the waters of the harbour must obtain permission from the Harbour Master. Permission will be granted provided that the ship is safely anchored, the immobilization does not interfere with navigation, and all required safety and communication measures are in place.

Requests must include the vessel’s name, location, reason for immobilization, and estimated duration. The Harbour Master may impose specific conditions as needed to ensure the vessel can respond to emergencies or vacate its position if required.

While immobilized, the vessel must maintain continuous monitoring of VHF Channel 12, ensure adequate crew are available to manage lines and respond to emergencies, and immediately notify the Harbour Master of any changes to the approved duration.

Unauthorized immobilization of main propulsion machinery may result in enforcement actions under applicable regulations.
